GainFrame Is Around $2,000 MRR. I'm Still Figuring Out How to Grow It.

RevenueCat shows $2,208.95 MRR today. Growth has slowed, and I'm trying creator content while I figure out where to spend my time.

A solo developer with a laptop sits on a level path that branches toward camera, phone, and video editing symbols.

GainFrame is around $2,000 in monthly recurring revenue, and I'm feeling a bit stuck. The latest RevenueCat chart puts it at $2,208.95, with 391 active subscriptions in the overview. Today's number can still change.

On July 12, I wrote about crossing $1,000 MRR and shared the timeline on Reddit. By August 12, my morning snapshot was $1,920.18. That second stretch happened much faster, and I wrote about the work I'd been doing on the website and free tools during that month.

Now growth has slowed, and I'm trying to work out what comes next.

For anyone new here, GainFrame is my iOS app for tracking gym progress through photos, with AI analysis to help people understand the changes. My first app flopped, so having people pay for something I built still means a lot.

Daily RevenueCat MRR rises from $1,004.34 on July 12 to $2,148.32 on August 22, then grows more slowly to $2,208.95 on September 10. The final day is incomplete.
MRR has grown since the original post. The line has been much flatter since late August. These are daily chart values; the earlier posts used snapshots taken during the day.

The last 28 days added $286.52 MRR

I compared two equal stretches using RevenueCat's daily chart. From July 15 to August 12, MRR increased by $851.42. From August 12 to September 9, it increased by $286.52.

That's 66.3% less MRR added over the same amount of time. Both periods grew. The pace is what changed.

PeriodDaysMRR added
July 15–August 1228$851.42
August 12–September 928$286.52
Two horizontal bars compare MRR added across equal 28-day periods: $851.42 from July 15 to August 12 and $286.52 from August 12 to September 9, a 66.3 percent reduction in MRR added.
The more recent 28 days added about a third as much MRR. I left today out of this comparison because the day is still in progress.

Revenue is public on RevenueCat's verified page. These charts were pulled on September 10.

The frustrating part is deciding what deserves more time. There are plenty of things I could try, and I don't have a clear answer on which one to focus on. I can keep myself busy pretty easily (being a solo developer is good for that). Choosing where to put the next few hours is harder.

I'm trying Instagram creator partnerships

I recently partnered with some creators to make and publish Instagram content for the app. Our first post is live on Instagram.

The idea is to have other people show GainFrame and explain how they use it. It's a visual app, so I want to give that a try and see whether it brings in people who want to track their own progress.

I don't have results to share from the partnerships yet. I'll write about them as I do.

I'll keep posting to TikTok

I'm going to keep posting to my TikTok accounts too. I'm also hoping to meet with a clipper to understand whether that could be worth trying.

I need to learn what the arrangement would involve, what content they'd work with, and what it would cost before deciding. Still exploring that one.

That's about as far as the plan goes right now. These are the things I'm trying next while I figure out where to focus.

I'll keep writing these updates

When I was starting, I read other developers' posts to understand how they got their apps off the ground. Following what they tried over time was useful, especially when something took longer than they expected.

I've shared the milestones. This is where I am after the last one: around $2,000 MRR, a few new things to try, and some uncertainty about where to spend my time.

I still want to keep building this. I'll keep working on it and sharing the experience.

Happy to answer questions. And if you've tried creator partnerships for a small app, I'd like to hear how it went.
